Most of us carry a lot within us. Stress, worries, disappointments, memories, and all the things happening in the world around us. Our minds are often far from quiet.

But many women also know another kind of burden: the constant need to think about safety. To stay alert. To wonder who they can trust, where they are safe, and whether they need to protect themselves in certain moments.

Through my work at the women’s shelter, I have come into contact with women who have gone through real violence, fear, and life-changing pain. This has reminded me even more of how deeply every human being deserves peace, not only around them, but also within them.

This painting is the contrast to that pain. It is a reminder of a peaceful life, a peaceful future, and the kind of inner peace so many of us long for.

This is what I wish for all of us, for women, for men, for people in general: a life with more peace, more safety, and more moments in which we can simply breathe and feel at home within ourselves.

This painting is meant to offer you a small place of peace, a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the calm you may need.
